Meaning
Hur is a Hebrew proper name borne by more than one man in the Old Testament.
Biblical Usage
One Hur accompanied Moses and Aaron when Israel fought Amalek. When Moses’ hands grew heavy, Aaron and Hur supported them until sunset. Moses later left Aaron and Hur with the elders while he went up into the mount.
The name Hur also appears in genealogies and in accounts concerning Bezalel, the craftsman appointed for the work of the tabernacle. The passages should be read in context to distinguish the individuals.
