Meaning
Moses is a masculine personal name meaning “drawn out” or “taken from the water.” In Exodus 2:10, Pharaoh’s daughter called him Moses because she drew him out of the water after finding him in a basket among the reeds of the Nile River.
Biblical Usage
Moses was the son of Amram and Jochebed, the brother of Aaron and Miriam, and the leader through whom the LORD brought the children of Israel out of Egypt. The LORD gave Israel the Law through Moses, who led the people through the wilderness toward the promised land.
