Meaning
Egypt is the ancient land and kingdom associated in Scripture with the descendants of Mizraim and situated in northeastern Africa.
The Hebrew name is Mitsrayim, while the English name Egypt comes through Greek and later languages.
Biblical Usage
In Scripture, Egypt is the land where Abraham sojourned, where Joseph was elevated to authority under Pharaoh, and where the children of Israel were enslaved before God brought them out under Moses.
