Midian is the name of a region and people associated with the descendants of Midian, a son of Abraham and Keturah.
The name is also used for the people descended from him.
Biblical Usage
In Scripture, Midian refers both to a people descended from Midian and to the region associated with them.
Moses fled to Midian after leaving Egypt and lived there with Jethro before returning to Egypt.
The Midianites are also mentioned in later accounts of Israel.
