Biblical Usage
In Scripture, Puah was one of the two Hebrew midwives whom Pharaoh commanded to kill the male children born to the Hebrew women.
She and Shiphrah feared God and did not obey Pharaoh’s command, but allowed the male children to live.
God dealt well with the midwives and gave them households because they feared Him.
