Meaning
Paddan-aram is a region in Aram associated with the family of Rebekah and the years Jacob spent with Laban.
The name is traditionally understood from its Hebrew elements as “plain of Aram” or “field of Aram.”
Biblical Usage
In Scripture, Paddan-aram was the region where Bethuel and his family lived and where Jacob went to take a wife from the family of his mother’s brother Laban.
Jacob served Laban there and had children there before returning to Canaan.
