Biblical Usage
In Scripture, service refers to work, duties, or acts performed for a person, household, king, nation, or God.
The Bible uses the term for ordinary labor, military or governmental duties, and especially service performed in worship and ministry.
The Levites were appointed for particular service connected with the tabernacle and later the temple.
