Biblical Usage
In Scripture, Rachel was the younger daughter of Laban and the wife of Jacob.
She was the mother of Joseph and Benjamin. Rachel died while giving birth to Benjamin and was buried near Bethlehem.
Rachel is also mentioned in the prophecy recorded by Jeremiah and in Matthew’s account concerning the children of Bethlehem.
