The tablets of stone were stone tablets upon which God wrote the words of His covenant and commandments.
They were given to Moses at Mount Sinai.

God wrote His commandments upon them, and Moses brought them down from the mountain.
After Moses broke the first tablets because of Israel’s idolatry, the LORD commanded him to prepare another two tablets and wrote the words upon them again.
