An ark is a large vessel or chest used for carrying or preserving people or objects.
Biblical Usage
In Scripture, the word “ark” is used for more than one object.
It refers to Noah’s ark, which God instructed Noah to build before the Flood. It is also used for the basket in which the infant Moses was placed on the Nile.
The Ark of the Covenant is a separate object with a distinct purpose and is treated as its own dictionary entry.
