Meaning
A veil is a curtain or covering. The veil of the temple was the curtain separating the holy place from the most holy place.
Biblical Usage
At the death of Jesus, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom. The Gospel accounts record this event immediately after Jesus yielded up the ghost.
The veil had separated the holy place from the most holy place. The book of Hebrews also refers to the veil when describing access to God through Jesus Christ.
